Welcome to the Regulatory Services Platform

The Regulatory Services Platform (RSP) is an online tool designed to support environmental protection while streamlining processes for Canadians, businesses and organizations.

The RSP enables users to efficiently meet their environmental obligations and commitments while facilitating an effective approach to the implementation of Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) environmental risk management instruments.

The platform currently allows users to provide information and data to ECCC for the following instruments:

Instrument name Instrument description Instrument link
Migratory Game Bird Hunting (MGBH) e-Permits

To hunt migratory game birds in Canada, you must have a valid federal Migratory Game Bird Hunting (MGBH) Permit on which the Canadian Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp appears. The 2026 MGBH e-permit, which includes the image of the Canadian Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp is available from August 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027 for $17.00 plus applicable taxes.

Abandoned Nest Registry (ANR)

This system allows you to register one or multiple abandoned nests of species listed in Schedule 1 of the Migratory Birds Regulations, 2022.

Clean Electricity Regulations (CER)

The Regulations set limits for carbon dioxide emissions from electricity generating units that burn fossil fuels and meeting the applicability criteria, starting in 2035.

Federal Plastics Registry (FPR)

The FPR is designed to improve understanding of plastics across their lifecycle through a phased approach. In Phase 1, reporting is limited to plastic products manufactured, imported and placed on the Canadian market, specifically plastic packaging, electronic and electrical equipment, and single-use or disposable products destined for the residential waste stream. Reporting on resin manufacturing and importing, waste generation and end-of-life management is expected to be addressed in future phases.

Landfill Gas Survey

The Landfill Gas Survey is a biennial, voluntary submission of landfill and landfill gas collection data to support Canada's greenhouse gas inventory and policy development.

Landfill Methane Regulations

The Landfill Methane Regulations require certain landfills that have received municipal solid waste to: control methane emissions; monitor the landfill surface, landfill gas monitoring wells and landfill gas management systems; and take action within specified timelines to resolve exceedances of surface methane concentration limits or address methane leaks in equipment.

Migratory Game Bird Harvest Survey

Hunters can play an active role with the conservation and management of migratory game birds in Canada by taking part in the Migratory Game Bird Harvest Survey.

Prohibition of Certain Toxic Substances Regulations

These Regulations prohibit the manufacture, use, sale, and import of certain toxic substances, and products containing them, with a limited number of exemptions.

Reduction in the Release of Volatile Organic Compounds (Storage and Loading of Volatile Petroleum Liquids) Regulations (VOC)

Operators of facilities subject to the Regulations must install, inspect, maintain and repair equipment to ensure adequate emissions control of petroleum liquid storage tanks and loading racks, as well as record-keeping and reporting.
